Former millionaire Irinel Columbeanu is going through a difficult time, almost two years since he moved to a private asylum in Ghermănești. Considered one of the richest Romanians, Columbeanu has now completely depended on the kindness of the center of the center, after accumulating debts of over 18,000 lei and was left without the support of friends and acquaintances.

The move to a luxury home took place in the summer of 2023, after its health, especially memory problems, began to aggravate. At the advice of the relatives, Columbeanu gave up rent and chose a place to be part of permanent support. Although they benefit from a pension of about 2,000 lei, the monthly costs for accommodation and care reach 8,000 lei, an amount impossible to cover without external help.
At first, the former billionaire from Izvorani was financially supported by his friends or his daughter, Irina, in the US. But in recent months, the help has ceased, and the administrator of the center, Ioan Cassian, is the one who maintains him financially.
“In the last period no one visited anymore. No one helps him with the expenses. The pension does not cover any quarter. What to do, and on Zina (Dumitrescu) I kept it for three years with 2,600 lei and I did not recover anything”, Cassian told CANCAN.ro.
Irinel Columbeanu, more and more lonely
Isolated and without access to a charged phone, Irinel Columbeanu can no longer keep in touch with those outside the center. The management of the asylum explained that the former businessman has damaged all the charges received and has no functional device to communicate.
On May 27, Irinel turns 67, and Ioan Cassian is thinking of organizing a small party:
“To see who is available from his friends. I will try to get in touch with them,” said the administrator.
Although initially it wanted Irinel to spend summer in America, along with his daughter, the plans seem to have changed. According to close sources, Irina could return to Romania to visit her father.
