German Jurgen Klinsmann has been dismissed from the position of coach of South Korea, the Football Federation of this country (KFA) announced on Friday, after the elimination of the team in the semi-finals of the Asian Cup, last week, informs AFP.

If usually these separations are done with handshakes and formal declarations, the Asian officials chose to do it in a harsher way, in which they emphasize the failures of the selector. “KFA decided to change the national coach after a thorough analysis”said the president of the federation, Chung Mong-gyu, during a press conference, dismissing the former German international less than a year after he was appointed to lead the Asian team.
He did not succeed in any field on the bench of the Asians
“Klinsmann failed to demonstrate the management and leadership skills expected of a national coach in areas ranging from tactics, personnel management to work attitude and other areas needed to bring competitiveness to the team.” Chung said. “Klinsmann's attitude and competitiveness as a coach did not live up to expectations. We have therefore decided to change management ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers,” added the KFA president.
Instead, Jurgen Klinsmann was more diplomatic, noting that his mission in South Korea was “an incredible journey” and thanked his players in a message on social networks.
South Korea, one of the big favorites at the Asian Cup, was eliminated in the semi-finals by Jordan (score 0-2). The unconvincing developments of this competition and the rivalries between the players attracted criticism from the press and the public.
