USR president claims that “Romania’s foreign and security policy can no longer be topics for a handful of people at the Cotroceni Palace.
“We need truth, transparency and real communication with citizens if we want to go further on a straight road! I ask the interim president Ilie Bolojan to start a debate with all the political forces about the position of Romania at this delicate moment. Without a consensus – or at least a national political agreement – we will not be able to position ourselves credible on the international stage. And we will continue to supply conspiracy theories, handling campaigns and fake news. It is the time for an open and clear communication with the people in this country! ”said Elena Lasconi, in a message posted on Monday, February 17, 2025, on her FB page.
On what happens to Ukraine in the near future, the fate of Romania will depend and many years before, considers the USR leader.
“It is time to wake up as a country and get out of the diplomatic and military irrelevance in which Iohannis in Cotroceni was 10 years. We were irrelevant at the Munich Security Conference on the weekend, we are missing from today’s emergency meeting in Paris. The Security counselor of the interim president gives us assurances that it is only an informal discussion in Paris and that no decisions will be made about the eastern flank of NATO. We cannot be satisfied only with such answers! It is time not to hide under the price of vital topics for Romania ”, added Lasconi.
