Laurentiu Reghecampf qualified Al Hilal Omdurman in the groups of the African Champions League

Laurentiu Reghecampf managed to achieve an important performance in Africa. The Romanian technician managed to qualify his team, Al Hilal Omdurman, in the groups of the African Champions League, after a spectacular double leg against Kenya Police.

The Sudanese team qualified 4-1 on aggregate after winning 1-0 in the first leg and 3-1 in the second leg.

In the decisive match, played at home, Adetunji opened the scoring in the 37th minute. The Kenyan team equalized through Zakayo in the 53rd minute, but Reghecampf’s students immediately came back. Adetunji also scored for 2-1 in the 64th minute, and Salem closed the scoreboard in the 90th+11th minute, confirming the qualification of the Sudanese team.

Al Hilal Omdurman, tormented by the political context

The result is all the more valuable as Al Hilal are facing great difficulties. Due to the civil war in Sudan, the team is forced to play the African Cup matches in Mauritania. However, the club, considered the most successful in the history of Sudanese football (31 national titles), continues to show strength and determination under Reghecampf.

The draw for the group stage will take place on November 12. Since his arrival at Al Hilal, Reghecampf has made it his main objective to reach the African Champions League groups and now he has achieved his target. In the domestic competition, his team is the leader after seven stages of the play-offs, having 14 points and a steady course.
