Actor Leonardo DiCaprio was absent on Saturday from the film festival in Palm Springs, California, because he could not leave St. Barths, as a result of the air restrictions in the Caribbean, amid the conflict between the US and Venezuela.
DiCaprio, 51, was unable to attend the awards ceremony in Palm Springs, California on Saturday, January 3, where he was to receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award for his performance in his latest film, One Battle After Another.
“Leonardo DiCaprio is unable to attend tonight due to unexpected air traffic disruptions and flight restrictions,” said, on Saturday, a spokesperson of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, writes People.
“While we will miss celebrating him in person, we are honored to recognize his exceptional work and lasting contributions to cinema,” the official continued. “His talent and dedication to this field continues to inspire, and we are delighted to celebrate him tonight with the Desert Palm Achievement Award.”
Palm Springs International Airport issued a statement on X on January 3, announcing that departing flights were grounded.
“FAA Air Traffic Control Issue Affects Southern California Airspace Today” it is shown in the statement. “Aircraft have been able to arrive, although some arriving flights have been diverted and delays are expected.”
In the movie One Battle After Another, DiCaprio starred alongside Chase Infiniti, Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, Regina Hall and others.
