Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu claimed during the evening of Tuesday, September 3, that Mircea Geoană will enter the race for the Cotroceni Palace, but stated that he does not understand the strategy “with independence”.

“Mr Geoana is running, it’s obvious. What I still don’t understand is the independence thing. I will go to the party and tell them that I am independent from tomorrow. This is in the area of hypocrisy.
All your life you were president of the PSD, you were put in positions by the PSD, suddenly you are independent, you formed your party, you ran with your party“, declared the president of the Social Democratic Party on Romania TV.
The Prime Minister also stated that “power” will have to be shared.
“PSD will be part of the future governing coalition, so you respect the Romanians’ vote. I said that the next years for Romania are the most important for development and I want us to enter into a logic of separating ourselves from hatred.
Power in the coming period will have to be shared. How, the Romanians will decide. At this moment, I believe that PSD will come out first in the competition with the other parties… but that does not mean that it will automatically become the prime minister. PSD will automatically be in government because this was the will of the Romanians. And I assumed this in the first place in front of my colleagues. Because I think so. I saw where it ended when a man wanted to have all the power, to have his own government… I am firmly convinced, my colleagues understood, because we and they want the best for Romaniansr”, the PSD leader also said.
We remind you that Mircea Geoană announced on Tuesday, September 3, his resignation from the position of Deputy Secretary General of NATO.
“Being in the leadership of NATO has been the honor of my life.
I thank Secretary General Stoltenberg for his trust and friendship. Together, in the last 5 years, we have been through many difficult times, but we have also shared countless achievements with our outstanding team.
As I move into a new chapter, I look back with pride on my memorable time in the service of the most important Alliance in history.” Mircea Geoană sent on Facebook.
