The minister showed that the statistics indicate an increase of more than 1400 cases, at the last report.

“The form of COVID which, at the moment, represents a somewhat trivial infection in most people, has had a spectacular growth, indeed. A week ago we had about 2,000 cases, now we have 3,400, in the last report” said Alexandru Rafila, at Antena 3 CNN.

The number of COVID cases will increase

The increase in the number of cases could last two to three weeks “until the receptive population is exhausted”, the minister also declared.

Alexandru Rafila stated, however, that there are no problems regarding places in hospitals.

“Around 400 patients are hospitalized, of which approximately 21 are in Intensive Care“, said the Minister of Health.

“The protection that the vaccine offered is no longer effective”

Alexandru Rafila says that both vaccinated and unvaccinated people are affected.

“It is a new strain, you see that this emergence in terms of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is extremely fast (…) The protection that the vaccine once offered is no longer an effective protection”added the Minister of Health, according to the quoted source.

“People go to terraces, to restaurants, in and out of hotels”

We remind you that the National Institute of Public Health announced that in the week of July 22 – 28 there was a 71% increase in the number of COVID cases compared to the previous week.

“The number of cases of illness with COVID-19 has increased for a very simple reason: we are in the summer season, a time when people go on holidays and vacations, mobility is very high both in the country and across the border. Some come, some go. Increasing the number of trips, automatically increased the number of contacts and, implicitly, the number of infections”epidemiologist Emilian Popovici explained the recent explosion of illnesses.

The specialist explained that “people go to terraces, to restaurants, enter and leave hotels and guesthouses, participate in various artistic and cultural events, come into contact with each other. It is natural for them to bring the infection into the country and take it with them further, abroad”. continues the specialist.
