Radu Miruță, the interim Minister of Defense, spoke on Thursday evening about the projects that remained unresolved during the period when Sorin Grindeanu, the PSD leader, led the Ministry of Transport. According to him, one of the respective problems would have contributed to the situation that currently led to the shutdown of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant.
Invited to the show “News Pass” from the B1 TV station, Radu Miruță stated that the current situation in Cernavodă is related to infrastructure projects that were not carried out during the period when Grindeanu led the Ministry of Transport.
“Mr. Grindeanu may be tormented by some guilt”
The USR minister stated that the PSD leader would have reasons to feel responsible for the current context, arguing that, in the absence of some works that should have been carried out on the Danube, the situation ended up affecting the operation of the nuclear power plant.
“The difference between Miruţă’s centimeters and Grindeanu’s inaction is the shutdown of the Cernavodă plant today, because a project from the Ministry of Transport coordinated by Mr. Grindeanu was shelved. The Bala project, which required a fixed higher flow of water to help cool the reactors at Cernavodă and which was a serious and healthy solution, made ahead of time and thought out by specialists and approved with approvals from Medium, it was put in a drawer and locked there since April 2024. Maybe Mr. Grindeanu is tormented by some guilt”, declared Radu Miruţă.
The statement comes as a reaction to the statements of the PSD leader, Sorin Grindeanu, who recently mocked the efforts of the authorities to maintain the level of the Danube necessary for the operation of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant with the expression “those centimeters of Miruţă”.
The interim Minister of Defense specified that the recent interventions allowed the extension of the reactors’ activity.
“Following the solution proposed by those from Apele Române, an additional week of operation of the Cernavodă plant was gained”, said the minister.
Radu Miruță compared the way in which the current administration manages the problems with the promotion style associated with the former Minister of Transport.
“That’s the difference when you go with an expensive watch to the opening of highways or when you go seriously“, said the interim Minister of Defense.

In the same intervention, the official also commented on recent incidents related to drones discovered in the coastal area and warned against false information circulating in the public space.
“There’s also a lot of misinformation,” said Miruță, referring to images shared online that were mistakenly presented as real drone interception operations.
According to the minister, some of the images that recently circulated on social media actually captured a planned military exercise and not an operational mission
“I also received some pictures with the figure of a woman this evening Bayraktar drones and of a fighter plane somewhere around the area of Vaslui, Bârlad, as if the army is hunting some drones in the madness of the last months, when in fact it is a scheduled exercise that the air force is coordinating, it has nothing to do with drone hunting planese”, the minister also declared.
