The Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, announced that the amount allocated to the teachers who will supervise the national exams will increase this year.
“What I can say for sure is that it will be an increase from last year and we will announce it shortlyDeca said on TVR Info, in the Info Edu show, on April 17.
Concretely, the teachers who will correct the papers from the national exams will be paid better than last year, confirmed Ligia Deca. It stated that the budgetary impact is being assessed and will soon communicate the new amounts for this year. Last year, an evaluator teacher received 1,500 gross lei for correcting about a hundred papers.
During this year's exam simulations, the BAC correctional teachers had approximately 80 papers to correct, writes Edupedu.
“The platform, I believe, reduces effort, not increases it. Indeed, it is a different job in some respects. The fact is that we have annually increased the amounts allocated to proofreaders and supervisors and in general to those involved in the evaluation process. We want to do this again this year. To give an illustrative example. If last year a correctional teacher was assigned about 100 papers, they could be corrected somewhere in 2-3 days if they only did that, and in terms of remuneration it was somewhere around 1,500 lei gross. So it's not an insignificant amount, it's not a very large amount either, but I think it's an amount that will motivate teachers who have assessment skills to be involved in these exams. Obviously, an addition to intrinsic motivation“, said Ligia Deca in the Info Edu show.
The number of papers to be corrected varies according to the discipline, being more at the BAC than at the National Assessment. An assessment of the budget impact is underway, and details regarding the increase in teachers' remuneration will be made public soon, Ligia Deca also said.
“The number of papers is determined according to the discipline. There is much more at BAC compared to the National Evaluation and according to some scales that we establish through a normative act. This normative act is to be published. We are still calculating the budget impact based on the calculation that is done on a workload basis. We will release these details soon. What I can say for sure is that it will be an increase from last year“, added the Minister of Education.
This was the first year that the marking of mock national exam papers was digitized. Teachers were not paid for marking papers from national simulations.
