Sad start to the week for the Romanian press. Because, according to an announcement made by Radio Romania Actualităită, the former great commentator, Dan Voicilă, has passed away. Born on April 7, 1939, in Bucharest, he worked on the radio, alongside the name “heavy“, such as Paul Grigoriu, Florian “Moțu” Pittiș, Ion Ghițulescu and Octavian Vintilă.

According to what was written by the romania-actualitati.ro website, Dan Voicila died yesterday, September 1, at the age of 85. The cited source noted that Dan Voicilă began his radio career in 1968, after graduating from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest and the Faculty of Journalism. After starting his career on the radio, Dan Voicila also became a publicist-commentator.
With the passing of the years, Dan Voicila became a highly appreciated commentator. And he broadcasted from major sporting events, such as the Olympic Games in Barcelona (1996), Sydney (2000), but also from America, where he attended the 1994 World Cup.
Certainly, however, the most important transmission was made on the occasion of the final of the European Champions Cup in 1986, when Steaua defeated Barcelona, in Seville, after the execution of penalty kicks.
