On July 9, on the official website evaluation.edu.ro, administered by the Ministry of Education, but also on the notice boards of all evaluation centers in the country, the final results were displayed, after the resolution of 27,642 appeals.

Given that every tenth plus or minus is essential for high school admission, the fact that more than 80% of the grades from the National Assessment 2024 appeals were changed upset many people’s calculations.

According to the relevant ministry, more than 24,000 grades were changed after the re-correction, which means that only one out of 10 papers remained with the grade received in the initial phase, reports PROTV.

The number of appeals this year was only slightly higher than last year’s, 27,640 (8.76% of the total number of works), compared to 27,128 in 2023. Of these, 14,485 were for Romanian language and literature, 425 in native language and literature and 12,730 in mathematics.

For 14,720 papers, appeals changed the grade by increasing, and for 9,646 papers, the grades were changed by decreasing.

As the grades have changed

– Mother tongue: 75.8% of re-evaluations with differences below 0.5 points

– 5 papers with loading errors, corrected in the appeals stage, where there were differences greater than 5 points.

– Mother tongue: 90.5% grades greater than or equal to; 68 marks out of 10.

The results obtained after appeals reflect a slight improvement on the initial results, with a small increase in the percentage of averages above 5 and the number of averages of 10, but a decrease from the previous year.

High school admission calendar

The average obtained at the National Assessment will be the only one taken into account for the calculation of the high school admission average. The average grades obtained in grades V-VIII will no longer be included in the calculation of the admission average, but remains only one of the tie-breaking criteria in the case of students with equal admission averages.

If several students have identical admission averages, the tie will be made according to the following four criteria, in the order presented: 1. the general graduation average of grades V-VIII; 2. the grade obtained in the Romanian language and literature test from the National Evaluation; 3. the grade obtained in the math test; 4. the grade obtained in the native language test or in the native language knowledge verification test, as the case may be.

– Between July 11 and 22, students and parents will fill in the options in the registration forms, assisted by the leaders of the 8th grades.

– During July 11-19, the data from the registration forms will be entered into the computerized database, and parents and candidates will have the opportunity to check their correctness.

– On July 24, the computerized distribution in high school education will take place for the VIIIth grade graduates who do not turn 18 by the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

– Between July 25 and 30, the assigned candidates will submit their application files to the schools to which they have been admitted.

– Between July 31 and August 2, the county/municipality admissions committee of Bucharest will resolve any special situations arising after the computerized distribution stage.
