The next phase of the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024, Europe RMR B, will take place between February 19 and 22, 2024, in Bucharest.

This is the first Major competition since 2024, bringing together the 24 best Counter-Strike teams in the world from March 17-31 in Copenhagen.

The team composed of Cătălin “BTN” STĂNESCU, Adrian “XELLOW” GUȚĂ, Cosmin “ragga” TEODORESCU, Alexandru “s0und” ȘTEFAN and Ersin “ERSIN” CHIRIAC managed to write history in the world of electronic sports in Romania, where they met teams of extremely valuable in the Closed Qualifier stage. After knocking out BIG, one of the best teams in the world and the 14th place finisher, Nexus qualified for the RMR after defeating the much more successful Estonian team sYnck. Following this result, Nexus moved up the HLTV rankings from 181st to 52nd.

“It is truly incredible to see how a team from Romania, with a budget of two hundred thousand euros, prepares to fight with world-class clubs, such as Vitality, valued at 200 million dollars, or Heroic, a team that, in the last two years alone, he has won $1 million in Counter-Strike competitions. In football terms, this Major is the equivalent of a combination of the UEFA Champions League and the Counter-Strike World Football Championship. We are proud to we are pioneers in this way, and our success is a victory for the entire Romanian esports community,” said Octav “ang” Crețu, Nexus Gaming CEO.

Nexus Gaming's qualification to RMR is a historic moment, because so far no other Romanian team has managed to reach such an important event. Romanian professional players such as Laurențiu “lauNX” ȚÂELEA or Mihai “iM” IVAN, participated in several Major competitions, but never as part of a Romanian team.

The next phase of the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024, Europe RMR B, will take place between February 19 and 22, 2024, in Bucharest.

Nexus will have a tough match against Team Astralis. For years, the Danes from Astralis dominated the Counter-Strike scene, winning no less than 3 consecutive Majors and 4 in total. From the group in which Nexus was assigned, the caliber teams such as Vitality, Mouz, Spirit, Monte, Cloud9, Apeks, Astralis, Preasy Sport, Gamerlegion, Guild Eagles, Ence, Ecstatic, Pera, OG and Heroic stand out. Headlining among them are Vitality, with a solid 5+ year history in CS and an outstanding performance, winning the BLAST.tv Major in Paris last year. American team Cloud9 was also a winner of the 2018 Boston Major.

In this phase of the competition, Romania enjoys another first. In addition to the fact that we have the first Romanian team present at the Major qualifiers, we also have four other Romanians qualified with their teams at this stage, with real chances to reach the Major in Copenhagen. Mihai “iM” IVAN, ex-Nexus player, qualified with Ukrainian organization Na`Vi, Adam “adamS” MARIAN, also ex-Nexus player, qualified with Spanish organization KOI (owned by Gerard PIQUÉ) , Sebastian “volt” MALOȘ is invited to RMR thanks to the GamerLegion team's progress in the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 final, and Iulian “regali” HARJĂU is with the international team OG.
