Nicușor Dan, about the Romanian behind the famous Canary Wharf financial district: “A landmark of civic involvement”

President Nicușor Dan emphasized, after the meeting with Sir George Iacobescu, the Romanian who contributed to the development of the famous Canary Wharf financial district in London, that his remarkable career and his attachment to Romania prove that Romanian performance can inspire and become a success story anywhere in the world.

“It was a real pleasure to see Sir George Iacobescu again, in London, one of the most respected and appreciated Romanians from Great Britain. A construction engineer by profession, George Iacobescu’s name is linked to the development of the famous London financial center, the Canary Wharf project“, Nicusor Dan wrote in a post on Facebook.

In the president’s opinion, the Romanian engineer’s remarkable professional career and his constant attachment to Romania show that Romanian performance can be a source of inspiration and a success story anywhere in the world.

Last week, Nicusor Dan was in Paris and London, where he had several meetings with representatives of Romanian communities. On Saturday, he also posted an image from the meeting with Nicolae Rațiu, Ion Rațiu’s son, which he said was “a landmark of civic involvement in supporting Romania’s democratic course”.

In May, the entrepreneur George Iacobescu was decorated by Ilie Bolojan, as interim president, with the National Order “Star of Romania” in the rank of Grand Officer, for “the exceptional services brought to the Romanian state, through the constant promotion of Romania“.
