The Mayor of the Capital, Nicușor Dan, declared on Saturday that he will keep his political independence “at least” for the next three years, considering that this is an advantageous position to build the necessary majority in the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest. The announcement was made at the end of the presentation of the Capital’s development plan proposed by Nicolae Ciucă, an event attended by the general mayor.

“At least three years from now, independently. As you know we have eight games in General Councilthere must be at least five to make a majority and independence, equidistance helps”, stated Nicușor Dan, explaining that his political neutrality is essential to coordinate and obtain the support of several parties within the Council.

Nicușor Dan’s priority: the problems of Bucharest

Asked about a possible involvement at a political level higher than that of the Capital City Hall, Nicușor Dan replied that for now he wants to focus exclusively on projects related to Bucharest. “Let’s solve the problems of the people of Bucharest first, and then we’ll see”he declared, reaffirming his intention to dedicate his energy to the administrative and urban challenges of the Capital.

The mayor of the capital is open to collaboration with a right-wing president

Although Nicușor Dan emphasizes that he will remain independent, he also expressed his preference for a right-wing president. The mayor added that he is willing to collaborate with any candidate from the right-wing political spectrum who presents a coherent vision for the development of Bucharest. “If other candidates from this political spectrum propose a plan to me, I will participate with them in the presentation of the plan,” mentioned Nicușor Dan, thus suggesting that, although he will not be affiliated politically, he will support projects that contribute to the well-being of the city and are in line with his vision for the Capital.
