Nicușor Dan declared, on Saturday evening, that he has zero tolerance for violence against women and announced that a report will be published that will help to adopt measures in this direction.
Nicușor Dan said on Kanal D that he sees violence against women as a right “degrading” and has zero tolerance for this phenomenon, in the context of the increasing number of cases of this kind, including those of femicide.
“Fight Doroftei, but don’t assault women!” said the president.
He also conveyed that Diana Punga, the state adviser for relations with civil society, keeps in touch with the parliamentarians “who deals” of the problem of violence against women, a report will be presented, stating that the purpose of the document is to find solutions “Police level”.
“We will come out together with a report on this matter and see what are the things that need to be improved at the level of the Police, at the level of sanctioning”said Nicușor Dan.
On the other hand, Nicușor Dan emphasized the importance of legal proceedings against the aggressors, including from the perspective of the effectiveness with which justice is done in such cases.
“We have to look, and here is one of the pains, and I mentioned it when we talked about corruption, how quickly the criminal process works. Because it’s one thing to give a signal – how it happened: he hit, God forbid!, he killed – and in six months he’s in prison, and it’s another thing to read a news story: “Do you remember four or five years ago? That person was convicted””explained the head of state, in the show “40 Questions with Denise Rifai”from Kanal D.
So far, 52 cases of femicide have been registered in Romania in 2025, almost one per week.
