President Nicuşor Dan on Saturday had a meeting with the Austrian Federal Chancellor, Christian Stocker, in Salzburg, during his official visit to the Republic of Austria, at the invitation of Federal President Alexander Van Der Bellen.

According to the Presidential Administration, the meeting offered an exchange of opinions on the stage and prospects of Romanian-Austrian relations and the topical themes on the European and international agenda, writes News.
“President Nicuşor Dan and Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker have emphasized the interest of both parties to open a new chapter in the bilateral relationship, through a political dialogue and a sustained economic cooperation, as well as through a European level. economic ”, it is specified in the official statement.
President Nicuşor Dan expressed the appreciation for the contribution of the Austrian capital to the development of the Romanian economy and emphasized the interest for both a more sustained presence of the Romanian companies on the Austrian market, as well as for the extension of cooperation, through common projects, in the vicinity, respectively in the Western Balkans, the Republic of Moldova or Ukraine.
Aspects related to energy security have also been addressed by improving the interconnection between the countries in the region.

The President of Romania and the Chancellor of Austria also discussed the importance of continuous support for the Republic of Moldova, including through political, financial and technical support.
At the same time, they expressed firm support for the advancement of the expansion process in the Western Balkans, considering this essential approach for regional stability, the statement said.
The Salzburg meeting reconfirmed the commitment of both parties for close cooperation in the European framework, in the spirit of solidarity and promoting the role of the European Union as an influent and competitive actor.
