Genoa announce that they have appointed Daniele De Rossi as their new first team coach. The new coach has already met with the players and will lead the training session scheduled for this afternoon at the Signorini Sports Centre.

The presentation is scheduled for Friday at the Villa Rostan headquarters, starting at 2:00 p.m. In a warm welcome to Daniele De Rossi and his team, Genoa thanks Roberto Murgita and Domenico Criscito for another demonstration of dedication to our colors“, it is stated in the official press release of the Genoa club.

De Rossi beat technicians Gotti, D’Aversa, Palladino and Vanoli in the race for the bench. The former great midfielder will collect almost one million euros for the eight months of the contract, with a clear objective: saving from relegation. If successful, the deal can be extended until 2027.

Career of Daniele De Rossi

Last time, De Rossi coached AS Roma, the team for which he wrote history. Free of contract for more than a year, the former Italian international had a salary in the capital of Italy three times higher than what Dan Șucu is now offering him. In his short coaching career, De Rossi also trained Spal and was part of the Italian national team staff.

As a player, De Rossi was a legend at Roma, for whom he played for 17 years before making the final move to Boca Juniors. In the Giallorossi jersey, he ticked off 616 matches, 63 goals and 60 decisive assists, and was captain for many years. Among his trophies is the most coveted worldwide: the World Cup won with Italy in 2006.
