Daniel Pancu, the last time coach of the national youth team, was officially presented today to CFR Cluj, Romania’s vice-champion and holder of the Cup, thus confirming the information that appeared in the last few days.

At the age of 48, “Pancone” was free of contract, after the contract he had at the helm of the small tricolors expired in the summer, where he worked with two basic players of Transylvania, stopper Matei Ilie and striker Louis Munteanu.
Daniel Pancu is the third coach of Cluj this season, after Dan Petrescu (57 years old) and the Italian Andrea Mandorlini (65 years old).
“CFR-ists, we are happy to announce that Daniel Pancu is our new coach. Our new coach will start his duties starting on Saturday, after the game with Dinamo. We wish him, on this path, much success, as many successes as possible and beautiful memories with us“, the people of Cluj sent.
In the last two years, Daniel Pancu was the selector of the Romanian U21 national team, with whom he participated in the European U21 Championship in Slovenia.
Previously, Daniel Pancu coached the Romanian U20 national team, and at the club level the Rapid Bucharest and Poli Iaşi formations.
Pancu replaces Andrea Mandorlini, dismissed on October 21 by the new president of the CFR Cluj club, Iuliu Mureşan. CFR Cluj started the season with Dan Petrescu on the technical bench.
Tuesday’s match, in the Romanian Cup, 4-0 with CSM Slatina, was prepared by Laurentiu Rus, helped from the shadows by Dan Petrescu.
CFR Cluj has a difficult start to the season in the Super League, occupying 13th place, with 13 points, after the first 14 stages of the Super League.
In the 15th round, CFR Cluj has an away match against Dinamo, tomorrow, from 20:30.
