Lia Olguța Vasilescu, the mayor of Craiova, announced on Sunday, July 12, that she will file a lawsuit in court against a person whom she accuses of coordinating a network of websites and accounts involved in an extensive defamation action against her and her family.
In a post published on Facebook, the social democrat claims that several accusations that she says are false have been launched in the public space:
“I’ve filed a lawsuit, which I’m filing tomorrow, against an individual who controls a whole network of Facebook and Tiktok sites and accounts, and who, for several weeks, has launched a furious campaign against me and my family. Without any evidence, no matter how small, he’s spewing such outlandish lies into the public space that you can’t help but wonder what or who is behind this pile of nonsense.”
“We’ve never had a relationship”
The City Hall of Craiova states that in the materials published online, references are made to banks with which it says it had no connections, alleged money transfers and cryptocurrency transactions.
“There are mixed banks with which I have never had any connection and which I hope will react to defend their reputation, exorbitant sums in cash or cryptocurrencies and even the tycoon of Telegram, about whose existence I did not even know until I found out from that liar that I was sending him money through tax havens to enrich him. Me on him”. writes the mayor in the same post.

Olguța Vasilescu claims that in those posts there are also statements regarding the activity of employees of Craiova City Hall, which she says do not correspond to reality.
