Linda Noskova prevailed in impressive fashion (6-2, 5-7, 6-3) in the final against Karolina Muchova from Wimbledon. Despite a slightly more disputed second set, won by Muchova, the young player triumphed in her first Grand Slam final.
In the first final at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in which two players from the Czech Republic faced each other, Linda Noskova demonstrated an impressive game. The champion did not show that she would be dominated by emotions. She became the third representative of the Czech Republic to win on grass at Wimbledon in the last four years, after Marketa Vondrousova (2023) and Barbora Krejcikova (2024). Following this success, Noskova will move up to seventh in the world, a career-best ranking.
After the final, the champion paid tribute to her mother, who died in 2024. “I could never have gotten here without her,” said the 21-year-old player. A few minutes after the final, she received congratulations from Czech president Petr Pavel, who pointed out on X that “rarely do we have the opportunity to watch a final where we sincerely support both players, from the first to the last point.” Also, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis qualified, for his part, the final as “magnificent and unforgettable”.

Noskova wasted five match points in the second set, prompting her to declare at the post-final press conference: “It was difficult. It felt like my hand was stuck. My legs weren’t moving as well. I tried to stay focused. Stay positive. On the last match point, I didn’t even know it was a match point. I just held on. Which allowed me to to go to the end was the fact that I didn’t let things affect me”.

Today, at 18.00, the men’s final of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament will be played between Jannik Sinner (Italy) and Alexander Zverev (Germany). The game can be watched in Romania on Eurosport.
