Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu said on Thursday evening that 428 town halls in the country are still not registered in the Ghiseul.ro platform, and the law provides for sanctions for those who will not respect the August 25 deadline.
Just 5 days before the deadline set by law, 428 of the 3,187 town halls in Romania are still not enrolled in the Ghiseul.ro platform.
Interim Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu warns that the local authorities are obliged to comply with the legal obligation.
“428 town halls are still unenrolled in the Ghiseul.ro platform at this moment. The deadline set by the law: August 25 (over five days). Three weeks ago, the figure was 919 town halls. More than half of them, namely 491, have gone through this mandatory process according to the law. It is good progress considering the slowness with which the enrollment has proceeded over time. However, it is insufficient progress. Digitization brings transparency, we get rid of the roads, waiting in line and bureaucracy. What sanctions do municipalities risk?
The law provides for severe penalties for local governments that do not comply by the set deadline.
“In case of non-compliance with the deadline, the law provides for the suspension of feeding local budgets, both with broken down income tax quotas and with broken down amounts from some state budget revenues, intended to balance local budgets, with a few exceptions”warned Oana Gheorghiu two weeks ago.
