Andrei Rațiu had a two-sided match in the second stage of the new La Liga season. The Romanian defender was involved in the phase that led to Rayo Vallecano’s goal, but also committed a crucial error at the end which allowed Alaves to equalise.
In the first half, Rațiu created a dangerous phase after entering the offensive and managed to pass several opponents. Although he lost the ball near the box, his teammates quickly recovered the ball. Rayo came close to keeping the lead until the end, but things changed in the 84th minute. Pressed by two opponents in his own half, Rațiu tried to send the ball to the goalkeeper, but his pass was intercepted by Mariano Diaz. The forward got himself into the ideal position and beat Batalla, restoring the tie.
