Former Prime Minister Ludovic Orban harshly criticized PSD and AUR for their role in dismissing the Bolojan Government, stating that the two formations must take responsibility for the political crisis.
“The PSD and the PSD clone, AUR, must take responsibility for solving the crisis, because they set the country on fire”, Orban said on B1 TV’s “Talk B1” show, arguing that the two parties acted in concert to bring down the Executive.
Orban: “I don’t understand why the president is taking time”
Asked why he thinks that President Nicușor Dan is delaying the appointment of a prime minister, Ludovic Orban replied that the head of state would have bet on restoring the coalition, a scenario he considers impossible:
“I am convinced that the president had a plan and that the reality is different from what he hoped. (…) I don’t understand why the president is taking time“.
According to the former liberal leader, PNL and USR can no longer govern together with PSD.
“How much trust can you have in a party that systematically violated the protocol of the coalition, the program of government, that attacked ministers of the political formations in the coalition?Orban said.
“Grindeanu is Nicușor Dan’s favorite partner”
Orban stated that, in his opinion, Sorin Grindeanu is the president’s first choice for the position of prime minister: “For me things are clear – he gives Grindeanu a mandate.”
The former prime minister, however, believes that the PSD leader does not want the nomination:
“If he doesn’t get the investiture, he will be kicked out from the head of the PSD, the PSD-ists will come with scythes to take him down.”
Orban added that, in case of Grindeanu’s failure, the president should nominate Ilie Bolojan:
“Grindeanu is not able to obtain a majority (…) he must necessarily give a mandate to Bolojan”.
About the Eugen Tomac – premier version
Regarding the scenario in which Eugen Tomac could be proposed as prime minister, Orban rejected the idea.
“Mr. Tomac does not represent any parliamentary party. (…) The appointment of a prime minister must take into account the will expressed by the parliamentary parties”, said the former prime minister.
