Over 930 kilograms of drugs captured by DIICOT in just five months

Between 1 January. May 23, 2025, the Romanian authorities identified and confiscated over 930 kilograms of drugs. Of these, over 330 kilograms were high -risk drugs, and about 600 kilograms were risk drugs, of which over 550 kilograms represented cannabis, according to a May 24 statement of DIICOT.

In the operations carried out, about 33,000 tablets were discovered, of which over 28,000 contained substances in the category of high risk drugs, and over 4,200 were low risk tablets.

The authorities also found about 150 kilograms of green vegetable mass containing THC (including over 44 kilograms of dry vegetable mass), as well as about 400 cannabis plants.

During this time, 348 operative actions were carried out to combat drug trafficking. They materialized in the execution of 1,133 house searches, the research of 1,249 persons, the detention of 616 persons, the preventive or home arrest of 427 persons and the placement under judicial control of 86 suspects.

We remind you that between April 29 – May 16, 2025, the Romanian Police, in collaboration with DIICOT, carried out at national level the operation “Blizzard 5”, the main objective being the identification and confiscation of drugs introduced in the country through courier companies.

Thus, following the checks, over 150 kilograms of cannabis were captured, over 5 kilograms of cocaine, 300 grams of 3-MMC, several tablets, a dose of heroin and money. So far, in this action, over 30 people have been detained and arrested.

The operation was carried out with the support of the anti -drug structures, the Romanian customs authority, the border police and the specialized canine teams.
