Daniel David, the Minister of Education, explained on Thursday how he sees National Assessment From the eighth grade and expressed confidence that in the near future it will have only informative role, as is the case in small classes, and not selectively, for enrollment in high school.
In a press conference in which several imported topics of the educational system in Romania were addressed, Minister Daniel David explained why at the moment the national evaluation remains a basic criterion for admission to high school.
According to him, unfortunately, there is still a pretty big gap between rural and urban schools, so that “an 8 in a commune means something other than 8 in Cluj or Bucharest”, which means that the notes obtained in the four years of gymnasium are not a valid criterion.
“In the future I would also like to give up this evaluation in the eighth grade with the role of selection. I think it should be maintained. But let’s not use it with such a powerful role in the selection. We cannot now. I tell you why: because the schools from us are very uneven. You cannot go to the educational portfolio, 8 In a commune I know which one only 8 in Cluj or Bucharest. explained Daniel David.
He also detailed the conditions under which the national evaluation of the eighth grade could only play only informative.
“I hope that as the schools become stronger, when we have more and more well -trained teachers in the system and what I proposed to the title I hope to lead to this by changing the curriculum I proposed. I hope to come for a while when we will be able to give up the use of national assessment as a selection test or use it as one of others and focus more on an educational portfolio ”, said the Minister of Education.
