Sebastian Popescu, the candidate of the New Romania Party, has tried his luck in the presidential race in the past. The results he obtained did not exceed 35,000 votes, and the poll canceled last year indicated a decrease in his support.

Sebastian Popescu, a veterinarian, initially decided to re -profile on journalism, following the political field. He also applied for the 2019 presidential elections and the canceled ones in 2024.
Popescu is also the second candidate who filed a request for the first round of the presidential elections last year, being rejected by the CCR judges.
Training
Sebastian Popescu is a veterinarian, founder of news sites and the new Romania.
He finished the Agricultural High School in Bălcești, Vâlcea County, where he was preparing for the career as a veterinarian. He graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Banat in Timisoara in 2006.
After graduating from university studies, Popescu worked only five years in the field, and then focused on journalism. He later became founder and editorial director of news sites.
Political career
Sebastian Constantin Popescu, a candidate from the new Romania, tried his luck last year in the canceled presidential elections. Its result was below 3%, ie below the threshold required to return some money used in the campaign.
And at present, in the past campaigns it has faced several problems. In 2019, the research bodies in the signatures that they submitted to the bulb were notified. Subsequently, he raised question marks on the information in his declaration of wealth.
Now BEC has notified the criminal investigation bodies again in his case, but the candidacy admitted, as well as the RCC.
He founded the New Romania Party in 2015, a party that, according to its statements, promotes transparency, meritocracy and integrity in Romanian politics.
What wealth does it have
Sebastian Popescu has a house of 78 square meters in the town of Făureşti, Vâlcea county, an urban area of 2,426 square meters and another 13 agricultural land in the same commune, having a cumulative area of over 18,000 square meters. All were acquired by a maintenance contract.
In the declaration of wealth he did not mention any income in the last year.
Chances in the presidential race
At the elections canceled last year was voted by 14,683 people, representing 0.16% of the total votes. In 2019 he obtained 31,000 votes, ie 0.33%, being 13th between the 14 candidates.
Like other counter -candidates, neither Sebastian Popescu is rated with chances in published opinion polls.
