Cătălin Predoiu congratulated the MAI structures and volunteers involved in the capture of the man suspected of killing the 18-year-old girl in Parhida, Bihor county.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Cătălin Predoiu, sent a message of appreciation on Friday evening for the structures involved in the operation to capture the man suspected of killing the 18-year-old schoolgirl in the Bihor town of Parhida, as well as for the citizens who voluntarily participated in the search operation.
“I convey my appreciation and thanks and that of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to all the structures involved in the operation carried out today, in Bihor county, as a result of which the person suspected of committing the act of murder in Parhida locality was caught. The operation demonstrates the ability of the MAI structures to act integrated, quickly and efficiently, under the coordination of the prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bihor Court. The policemen, the gendarmes, the policemen of the border, the crews of the General Aviation Inspectorate, the structures in the field and the mobilized volunteers worked in coordination, using all available resources to locate the person. At the same time, I send my condolences to the family grieving the tragic event.” stated Cătălin Predoiu, according to the message posted by the MAI on Facebook.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also published a video recording with images during the operation to capture the suspect.
According to the data sent by the MAI, the operation involved an extensive mobilization of forces and means, with the participation of policemen from the Bihor County Police Inspectorate, gendarmes from the Bihor County Gendarmerie Inspectorate and border policemen from the Territorial Inspectorate of the Oradea Border Police, along with other structures of the Romanian Police and volunteers.
Road filters were set up in the field, rummaging and search actions were carried out, and the authorities also used drones, tracking dogs, thermal imaging binoculars and a helicopter of the General Aviation Inspectorate within the MAI.
The suspect, a 39-year-old man from Parhida, was located around 6:10 p.m., with the support of the IGAv helicopter, in a field of rapeseed, approximately one kilometer from the crime scene.
In a video recording published by IPJ Bihor, he admits his act immediately after being caught, approximately six hours after the operation was launched. The man told the police and witnesses that he killed the 18-year-old girl by repeatedly stabbing her in the neck with a knife.
