President Nicușor Dan sent, upon entering the new year, a message to Romanians in which he reflects on the year 2025 and on the challenges that await Romania in 2026.
“On the threshold of a new year, we stop for a few moments and look with lucidity and honesty both at the road we have traveled and at the responsibility of the future that awaits us. The year 2025 was a year of trials, anxieties and natural questions. Many Romanians felt the pressure of the rising cost of living, fears about the stability of jobs and the uncertainty of an increasingly unpredictable world. These realities are real and cannot be ignored”President Nicușor Da sent.
In the head of state’s opinion, 2025 was, at the same time, a year of resistance and civic maturity. “A year in which Romania remained firmly anchored in its democratic values and in its European and Euro-Atlantic commitments. A year in which our society demonstrated that it knows how to mobilize, be solidary and responsible when it is really put to the test”. transmitted Nicușor Dan.
Looking ahead to 2026, the president stressed the importance of reform and accountability.
“It is essential that the Romanian state to become more efficient, fairer and closer to citizens. Reform, responsibility and competence cannot remain mere declarations of intent, but obligations of the state towards every Romanian. Romania has a huge potential. Its exploitation requires a common vision, a modern and competitive economy, an efficient administration, an educational system adapted to the future, a solid rule of law, which invest in security and in which the great corruption no longer finds its place. Essentially, a country that respects its citizens,” explained Nicușor Dan.
Nicușor Dan sent Romanians wishes for health, peace and hope for the new year.
“The New Year gives us the chance to renew trust, to correct what didn’t work and to build, together, a fairer and stronger Romania. The road will not be easy, but I am convinced that it is a road that we can travel successfully. I wish you all health, peace and the strength to look to the future with hope. Happy New Year to all Romanians, wherever you are“, concluded Nicușor Dan.
