Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan: The most important investment chapter is to absorb the ten billion euros from PNRR. What he discussed with the mayors of Botoșani

The government proposed to absorb in 2026 the ten billion euros from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, who met with the mayors of the county, said on Saturday in Botoşani.

At the end of a meeting with the mayors of Botoşani county, the prime minister declared that the absorption of funds from PNRR represents “the most important investment chapter”, according to Agerpres.

“For Romania, the most important investment chapter this year is to absorb the ten billion euros from the PNRR, for which the absorption must be completed by August, so that we do not lose the money that is in the form of a grant, and the contracts that are in the form of a loan have finality”, Bolojan specified.

“We discussed the problems related to the administration”

The Head of the Executive discussed with the mayors of Botoşani about the plans to expand the large infrastructure.

“We addressed both the large projects, related to the connecting infrastructure of the north-eastern area of Romania to the highway network and the fact that the day before yesterday the European Commission approved the SAFE (Security Action for Europe) Program for Romania, which also includes 4.3 billion euros for the two ends of the highway, which will solve the problem of connecting this region to Bucharest. It is a very important thing. We discussed the plans to expand the large infrastructure and also the problems that This means aspects related to the Anghel Saligny and PNRR investment projects“, added Ilie Bolojan

The Prime Minister specified that he discussed with the local administration of Botoşani also topics related to the reduction of the number of posts in the town halls and the increase of fees and taxes.

“We discussed the measures that have been taken in the last period regarding the reductions in the local administration, local taxes and other problems related to blockages in the administration and measures by which the Government can support the good functioning of the administration. Also, one of the aspects discussed was a possible project for the future financing period, to support, according to the model of the South-Eastern Region, a project of integrated territorial investments so that the North-Eastern area of Romania will benefit from additional investments that creates conditions for development“, the head of the Executive also said.

The president of the County Council, Valeriu Iftime, the prefect Raluca Curelariu, and several heads of decentralized public institutions also participated in the discussions.

We remind you that Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan’s visits to Moldova were marked by tensions: in Botoșani he was booed by several protesters, and in Iasi the PSD mayors boycotted the official meeting, accusing that the discussions with the Government were “formal” and the decisions regarding local budgets already taken.
