Even if they did not convince under the baton of the new coach, the people from Giulești obtained their first victory of this season through the goals of two players who arrived this summer, Alexandru Paşcanu (44) and Rareş Pop (53). Goncalo Teixeira (78) scored for the hosts. But the hero of the Cherries was goalkeeper Siegrist, the man brought in by former coach Neil Lennon in the summer.

Giulești started the match well and scored in the 8th minute, through the Serbian Borisav Burmaz, but the goal was canceled for offside. Iași had the first clear opportunity to score, but Swiss goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist rejected Andrei Gheorghiţă’s shot (22).

Goalkeeper Siegrist, providential for Rapid

Rapid opened the scoring at the end of the first half, through Paşcanu (44), who resumed Claudiu Petrila’s perfect cross with his head. In the second half, Siegrist had another providential intervention, rejecting Florian Kamberi’s deflected shot (51).

Shortly after, Rapid got on the scoreboard, Rareş Pop (53) scoring his first goal for the team from Giulești, with a shot from outside the box, to the long corner. Şumudica’s team had other opportunities to increase their advantage, but Nicolas Samayoa (60) rejected the ball sent by Cristian Ignat from the goal line, and Burmaz (72) missed alone with the goalkeeper.

The Portuguese Goncalo Teixeira (78) scored a kinogram goal, with a vault shot from 23 meters, to which Siegrist could not do anything. But the Giulești goalkeeper saved his team when Tailson restarted (81), the Brazilian was also dangerous in another situation (89), when he shot at the short corner, so Rapid got their first victory this season and the second in the last 17 matches played in the Superliga.
