Race in memory of a mentor. “Mihai Leu was my inspiration in Motorsport”

For Huțanu, Mihai Leu was more than an emblematic figure in the Romanian sport. He was the man who, by his example, gave him the courage to truly dedicate himself to the car races. Although already passionate about speed and adrenaline, Huțanu confesses that only after watching Mihai Leo in action, both in boxing and in Motorsport, he felt that his place is in competition, on the route, and to follow his childhood dream.

The races at the end of the week, dedicated to Mihai Leu’s memory, died at the age of 57

Mihai Leu was my inspiration. Through him I understood that passion, ambition and discipline can turn a dream into reality. Without him, I probably wouldn’t have been here today, living this dream at every start”, Said Sorin Huțanu.

The stage from Reșița, one of the most appreciated in the National Championship, will be for Huțanu more than a race, will be a declaration of gratitude and a moment of reflection. In a sport where every second matters, Huțanu will compete with the thought of the man who offered the first true motivation to enter the world of races.

Reșița is a special stage anyway, but this year has a huge emotional load for me. I dedicate this race to Mihai Leu, the man who inspired not only a generation of athletes, but also to me personally“, Added the pilot from the Hospice team Casa Speranței.

On an Audi RS3 LMS, Huțanu had a sensational victory last stage, in Harghita, when he won Group 3 in front of some more devoted names from the national motorsport and thus entered the fight for the champion title in 2025. At this moment, Huțanu is on 3 in the group’s standings, being only exceeded by George Hu.

In Reșița, no less than 74 pilots are registered on the start list at a dedicated stage in memory of the one who was Mihai Leu.
