Radical change at Google. New search engine after 25 years. The Gemini AI introduces an extended conversational mode

Google has announced the biggest transformation of its search engine in 25 years. The company is gradually abandoning the classic keyword-based model and introducing an experience centered on artificial intelligence and AI agents that work constantly in the background.

The new version of Google Search is powered by the Gemini 3.5 Flash AI model and introduces an extended conversational mode capable of understanding complex naturally phrased requests without the need for short keyword combinations.

The company claims that the feature AI Mode has already surpassed one billion monthly users, and the number of queries doubles every quarter, according to Android Central.

Searches with text, images, videos and files

The new Search interface will allow users to search for information using multiple types of content simultaneously: text, images, videos, files, and even active tabs in the Chrome browser.

Google says the system can anticipate user intent and help formulate questions through artificial intelligence.

In addition, AI Overview becomes fully conversational, allowing users to continue the dialogue and receive contextualized responses, both on desktop and mobile.

AI agents monitoring the internet around the clock

The most important innovation is the introduction of AI agents that continuously work in the background and monitor information from the Internet.

These agents can track news sites, blogs, financial data or sports information and send users personalized updates.

For example, users can ask the system to track the appearance of a certain sneaker model, apartment deals or other specific information, and the AI will constantly analyze the web and send relevant notifications.

At the same time, Google is also introducing automatic booking functions for local experiences and services. Users will be able to ask the search engine to find, for example, a karaoke room available for a certain number of people, and the AI will combine prices, availability and booking links.

These features will initially roll out in the US.

Advanced features available to subscribers only

Google has announced that continuous monitoring AI agents will be available this summer only to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.

Instead, some new features, such as interactive visuals automatically generated by AI — charts, tables or simulations — will be free for all Search users.

The company is also expanding the feature “Personal Intelligence” in nearly 200 countries and 98 languages. Users will be able to connect services such as Gmail, Google Photos, and later Google Calendar, so that artificial intelligence can provide personalized responses based on personal context.

Google claims that users will have complete control over connected data and apps.
