“We want a right-wing construction, a construction for Romania’s progress, for Romania’s development. (…) We want to modernize Romania. We believe that together with the right-wing forces, all around the PNL, because the PNL and the candidate who submitted his candidacy today – Nicolae Ciucă – with over 1,650,000 signatures is the only alternative, the only man who can defeat the left represented by Marcel Ciolacuthe current president of the PSD, and Mircea Geoană – the former president of the PSD, the longest serving president of the PSD in the last 35 years. Clearly we represent the alternative”, said Rareş Bogdan, at the BEC headquarters, after Nicolae Ciucă submitted his candidacy for the presidential elections.
Asked if, in the context of Nicolae Ciucă arriving at the Cotroceni Palace, Klaus Iohannis would be a possible prime minister, he replied that this was not discussed within the PNL nor in the dialogues with the head of state.
“If the PSD wins the elections with one more mandate or two more mandates, they will have the chance to build a majority, as is natural, around their rulers. We will see with whom they build this majority. Our option is one that Nicolae Ciucă expressed and we the other leaders of the PNL reiterated is to build a deeply reformist, modernizing coalition around the PNL, a right-wing one”also stated Rareş Bogdan.
He claimed that the PNL will make every effort to build a right-wing majority.
“The arithmetic is simple. We believe that we will get enough votes, both us and the other forces – REPER, Forţa Dreptei, USR and the other right-wing forces to build a solid majority around the PNL. (…) You saw that I already gave this signal in Bucharest, I gave this signal in the country. We want right-wing majorities”emphasized the first vice-president of the PNL.
Rareş Bogdan claimed that the PNL will talk to all the leaders of the right-wing forces.
“I am convinced that, after the date the first round of the electionssome of those who today are very indicative, very radical, very uncompromising will understand that it is important to carry their perspective for their parties, to have the perspective of the government and to change their attitude”the liberal added.
