Recalculation of pensions brings new changes for social assistance. Ciolacu: “Those with low incomes will continue to receive help”

Complementary to the pension recalculation measure, which would have ensured equity for pensioners, the government increases the income thresholds for obtaining social aid, so that those with low incomes can continue to benefit from aid, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said at the beginning of the government meeting Monday, September 2.

Thus, according to the head of the Executive, the income limit for social vouchers but also for heating aid will change, so that both pensioners and vulnerable families continue to benefit from financial aid from the state.

“In the case of social vouchers for food, we increase the income limit from 2,000 to 2,210 lei and for pensioners who benefit from compensation with 90% of the reference price of medicines, we increase the income ceiling from 1,830 to 2,020 lei per month. (…) We are coming with an important decision also regarding heating aid, the amounts resulting from the recalculation of pensions are not taken into account when determining the right for this type of aid. The last pension slip issued before the recalculation remains valid. In this way, we ensure that as many pensioners as possible can continue to receive support in the next period“, Marcel Ciolacu said on Monday.

“All those who, following the recalculation, have decisions with increased pensions, be sure that this decision can no longer be canceled and I assure them that no one touches their money. Also, all those who prove that the pension recalculation was erroneously applied to them will receive a priority response, with clear details on how to resolve the situation. In the case of blind and disabled pensioners, we are rapidly preparing a compensation mechanism to ensure a decent pension for them. We fix all these injustices, and show that we value the work of those who built this country“, Marcel Ciolacu also declared during the press conference at the beginning of the government meeting.

Taxpayers with up-to-date taxes will receive a 3% bonus

Also today, the head of the Executive mentioned that a new normative act will be published, through which a series of new measures will be applied to bring additional income to the state budget.

The interest and penalties of Romanians with debts to the state will be cancelled, if they pay their debts by November 25, but there will also be compensations for those with up-to-date taxes.

However, we also take a measure for the first time after the Revolution, we also reward the correct taxpayers, with up-to-date taxes: thus, from the following month, they receive a 3% bonus, so they pay less to the state. We consider it the most natural way to we show a sign of appreciation for all honest taxpayers in this country”the prime minister also declared.

Also today, emergency debates will begin, reports Marcel Ciolacu, regarding the draft law on increasing the tax ceiling and pensions to 3,000 lei.

“We adopt this project in an accelerated process and thus give time Pension Houses to prepare the system to apply the decision of 1 October”the prime minister also sent.
