In 2022, the Romanian press announced that a woman from Alba holds the record for cesarean births, as soon as she had undergone such an intervention for the 8th time. Now, a new record is being set at the Maternity Hospital in Bacău.

It is about a woman who recently had her 12th caesarean section, after which she gave birth to a girl with a grade 10. And literally, because this is the qualification she received from the medical team, but also at figuratively, because such repeated surgeries are extremely dangerous.
The information recently appeared on Facebook, after the Bacău Maternity Hospital posted a balance sheet of the activity from the beginning of the year until now, and it was picked up by Bacău.net.
“A mother gave birth to a 2800 g girl with grade (IA) 10, the medical team consisting of Dr. Beleuță Octavian, Dr. Popa Marius, Dr. Carp Cristina performing the 12th caesarean section on this patient. The patient gave birth 11 more times, each time by cesarean section, the last three interventions being successfully performed in Bacău Maternity” – wrote the representatives of SJU Bacău.
Doctors say that such cases are very rare, especially since such repeated surgeries are extremely dangerous, both for the mother and the baby.
Since the beginning of 2024, 370 newborns have been born in the Bacău Maternity Hospital, of which 18 were prematurely born and taken care of in the ATI Neonatology section, we learn from the post.
Also here, the Maternity Operating Block was modernized by purchasing a complete laparoscopy line of the latest generation, with specific instruments for gynecological laparoscopic surgery. “Minimally invasive surgery allows cases to be solved with minimal incisions, recovery is fast, postoperative pain is minimal and the length of hospitalization is reduced. The patient is discharged on average 48 hours postoperatively”, according to SJU Bacău.
