Those leaving these days for Bulgaria or Greece must expect delays when crossing the Giurgiu – Ruse Friendship Bridge, as traffic is temporarily restricted on Thursday morning.
In the middle of the summer season, when many Romanians choose to go on vacation to Bulgaria or Greece by car, the authorities impose new restrictions on the Giurgiu – Ruse Friendship Bridge. On Thursday morning, drivers should expect longer crossing wait times.
The Bulgarian authorities are carrying out interventions in the central area of the bridge, on the territory of Bulgaria, and in order for the workers to be able to work safely, they travel alternately, the cars passing in turn on the two directions.
The work took place today, July 15, and will continue tomorrow, July 16, between 06:00 and 11:00.
The Giurgiu Border Police Territorial Inspectorate announced, on its official page, that the Bulgarian authorities have sent that the traffic restriction is imposed by the fact that the lighting fixtures mounted on the poles in the central area of the Friendship Bridge are being changed.
Border police advise drivers to take the restrictions into account when setting their departure time to avoid traffic jams and queues, especially as the bridge is one of the options frequently used by those going to Bulgaria and Greece.
It is not the first intervention affecting traffic on the Friendship Bridge this summer. At the beginning of June, the authorities completely stopped traffic for maintenance and modernization work.
