Marcel Romanescu was elected as mayor on the PNL lists, but he announced his separation from the liberals last year. Now, he is unofficial in the PSD, because if he submitted his membership, he would lose his mayoral mandate.
“There may be citizens who, seeing the PNL and the PSD on the same list, do not support that list from the European Parliament. At least I, as a candidate, as a future member of PSD, will only support PSD candidates in the European Parliament. I am not talking about the local elections, because there it is clear that I will support my colleagues from the county and the municipality”, stated Marcel Romanescu, in an intervention on Radio Infinit, a local radio from Gorj.
Marcel Romanescu rules out an alliance with the current PNL Gorj leadership, for the June 9 local elections. “Today, the PNL only deals with files and blockages in the projects that we have to carry out in Gorj” said the former liberal.
Even the liberals do not want collaboration with the PSD
Gabriela Târsu, who holds the position of general secretary of PNL Gorj, stated for Pandurul.ro that the liberals have no way to collaborate with those from the PSD.
“We also understand the arguments at the central level, but what is happening at the level of Gorj county will continue as before. We are in opposition at the level of Gorj county, we are in opposition to PSD. People understand very well the need for stability, which is imposed at the central level because stability is needed in the international context. The National Liberal Party wants to represent an alternative to the PSD, which has been running the county for 34 years, with the results we all see on the streets. We believe that our county deserves to be in the first places in all relevant statistics and that the PSD has done everything it could so far, it is clear that we cannot expect more from them. They made many mistakes that kept Gorju isolated, with few jobs, low wagesi”, stated Gabriela Târsu.
