“The notification was made in 2024, it was not made now. It is an investigation by the General Prosecutor’s Office regarding certain medical specialist certificates issued falsely. We are talking about 12 people who would have completed training internships in residency in the Republic of Moldova, although these people were employed in Romania and in reality they would not have completed these training internships. The investigation is ongoing, I have no additional information. The offices of the Ministry of Health where these searches are being carried out and I have submitted and will submit to the General Prosecutor’s Office the documents requested for the investigation. If those from the Ministry of Health are found guilty, I will be the first to terminate their employment contracts and remove them from their management positions.” declared, on Wednesday, Alexandru Rogobete.
The minister explained that the difficulties arise especially with the recognition of training courses carried out in states that are not part of the European Union.
“The biggest problem is with specialist recognitions from outside the European area because those who do residencies or training internships in EU member countries are checked in an electronic system that works at the EU level and where we can check all the internships, but also the diplomas or certificates issued by them. The problem is when files come to be recognized from outside the area and where, unfortunately, there are currently no administrative elements as we have for those in the European Union to check the correctness and validity of these documents”added Rogobete.
As part of the investigation, prosecutors and police officers carry out 14 searches in Bucharest and in several counties on Wednesday. The file concerns the crimes of fraud, material falsification in official documents, computer forgery, use of forgery and unlawful exercise of a profession or activity. The investigation focuses on several doctors who applied for recognition of their studies at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemițanu” from Chisinau, although the prosecutors suspect that the residency did not take place in reality.
