Rogobete reacts after Radu Miruță announced changes in Health: “From my knowledge, my colleague is the Minister of Defense”

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, declared on Tuesday that at the level of the Ministry of Health there is no strategic document that provides for a 10% cut in salaries.

The Minister of Health was asked on Antena 3 about the statements of USR Deputy Prime Minister Radu Miruță who announced that the ministers must come up with proposals for reducing the salary fund by next week and spoke about health, saying that hospitals will be divided into categories and, depending on the rank, each unit will have a larger or smaller fund.

From my knowledge, but maybe I’m wrong or maybe something has changed in the meantime, Mr. Miruță, my colleague, is the Minister of Defense. Of course, as a politician, you can give your opinion on several subjects, but I call for balance and an informed discourse.

The reduction of the budget, the reduction of expenses if I can say so, in health will be done in a balanced way, not on the run, not on the knees, not overnight and the budget will be re-balanced by including performance criteria. It is a difference from heaven to earth.

Let’s understand each other a little. We have hospitals in Romania where they cannot cover the emergency lines. The guards are paid at the level of 2017 and they can continue with the inequities that are happening and we have seen for several weeks that health is again on the agenda of the day with a series of dysfunctions related in particular to the inequities of the human resource”declared the Minister of Health.

Alexandru Rogobete says that there is no document at the Ministry of Health that provides for 10% salary cuts.

He admits that efficiency and savings measures are being taken in the health system, but he considers the statements about salary cuts made by people who do not coordinate the field to be unbalanced, referring to Deputy Prime Minister Radu Miruță.

Regarding the fact that Radu Miruţă declared that PSD Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacșu agreed with these decisions, Alexandru Rogobete said that he knew that during this period all the ministries were working on the budget for next year.

Rogobete: “Since the fall of last year, there has been discussion about this resettlement of the system”

Tomorrow there will be a meeting at the government, with each minister separately, to discuss the budget by domain. Once again I say. The discussion about reducing the salary fund is not recent, it is old.

Since the fall of last year, there has been discussion about this resettlement of the system and I have said every time and I say the same way now, in the health system the savings are made in other areas, not in the salaries or incomes of the medical staff, medical staff who are not paid at the level of 2026 anyway, and here I am referring to the payment of the guards”the minister wanted to specify.

He explained that the reclassification of hospitals into four categories and the establishment of a new category of hospitals, namely, strategic hospitals, is a project that he started since last year and which has nothing to do with the reduction of the salary fund or any other reduction.

“It is about a reorganization of the health units, which operate according to a model that is over 30 years old”, said Minister Alexandru Rogobete.

The minister showed that at the moment we have 8 categories of hospitals, each charged differently and when I say charged differently I mean the point per service, the rate that the National Health Insurance House pays for medical service, not for salary, and which is no longer related to today’s reality, because in the meantime many investments have been made in hospitals, things have changed, technology has certainly advanced and then a reorganization into four categories is necessary.

“Obviously, each category of hospital will have a different rate depending on the rank of the hospital, different rate per point of medical service, per medical service it offers”he also said.

Radu Miruță announced that the Government will adopt an administration reform package next week, which provides for a 10% reduction in salary expenses, to be adopted in Parliament.

He specified that, in the case of MApN, MAI and the services, work is being done on a project to increase the retirement age, as an alternative to salary cuts or staff reductions.
