The Ministry of the Environment, Waters and Forests announced the registration of 15 candidates in the race for the position of general director of the National Administration “Romanian Waters” (ANAR), as well as who are the five members of the evaluation commission.
Through a press release sent on Tuesday, January 13, to Agerpres, the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Forests (MMAP) announced that 15 people have registered in the race for the post of general director of ANAR.
“The large number of applications confirms not only the strategic importance of ANAR, but also the real need for reform of this institution. After years in which appointments to management positions were made without clear criteria of competence and integrity, we decided to open this process and build it on the principles of professionalism, transparency and responsibility
public. The appointment of the general director is a prerogative of the minister, yes, but that does not exclude a voluntary process of transparent selection to ensure a real comparative evaluation and to identify the best specialist who can coordinate the deep reform that ANAR needs”, said the Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu.
Evaluation committee
According to the quoted source, in order to ensure a professional and rigorous evaluation of the candidates, MMAP established an evaluation committee consisting of five members, with academic and executive experience in the field of water, hydrotechnical safety, public policies and institutional management.
The committee members are:
* Altan Abdulamit – university teaching staff at the Technical University of Constructions Bucharest,
* Sorin Rîndașu –
specialist with over 29 years of experience within ANAR,
* Dan Stematiu – university professor and doctoral supervisor at the Bucharest Technical University of Construction, former rector and member of the ANAR Board of Directors since 1993,
* Corneliu Radu Sarghiuta – university professor at the Technical University of Constructions Bucharest,
* Cătălin Vlăduț Popescu – university teaching staff and certified technical expert for hydrotechnical constructions and installations.
“Through this approach, the ministry aims to ensure a comparative, rigorous and professional evaluation of the candidates, so that the specialist with the most solid professional competence, managerial vision and capacity for reform is appointed to head ANAR”. it is stated in the MMAP press release.
The interviews of the candidates are scheduled for January 15-16 and MMAP states that they will be recorded and published both on the official website and on the Ministry of Environment’s YouTube channel, to allow the public to follow the selection process.
“We want this open process to lead to the appointment of a general director capable of implementing the necessary reforms and efficiently managing Romania’s water resources”, the ministry also emphasized.
