The coach confessed that his number 1 objective was to get to know the players, but also for them to understand what he expects from them: “We have been working together for 4-5 days. We tried to make a plan. In the first half they performed very well, in the second half they dropped, but overall I am satisfied. I say that little by little the players will understand me, I them and it will be better. Mostly today I fought, I went out to the game. I did good things, but of course, I congratulated them at the end of the season. I talked to them more about the good things, less about the less good ones.”

Hagi: “The players showed that they have personality”

Hagi declared for Antena 1 that the players who debuted in this match showed personality: “They came to the Romanian team and they have to behave like that. When you get to the national team you have to have personality, and they showed it today. (…) The players, everything they do in life, I do for them. We only support them from time to time. If they want, we show them and try to get them on the right path”.

The “King” also said that “the players make a great coach, and Romania has players. We have potential. I’m happy to be in the national team and I hope to please the supporters. We need success. You feed yourself, happiness comes, you’re happy. That’s what we want to do.”

He wants a team more competitive with Wales

The selector also referred to Romania’s next match which will be on Saturday, June 6, in Ghencea: “Wales is an aggressive team. We have to find the formula. There will be changes. We will have to work in these three remaining days with the players who are at home and with those here who have played less. We are trying to make a competitive formation to try to win the match.”
