The first medal of the Romanian delegation at the U23 European Championship in Chisinau was won by Ioan Dzițac. The young man took his top prize into account, after winning the 73 kg category. The medal was presented to him by the president of COSR, Mihai Covaliu.

Entering the second round directly, Dziţac overcame opponents from Germany, Armenia and Georgia, in order to defeat Aron Szabo (Hungary) in the semi-finals, and Mate Beruashvili (Georgia) in the final.
“The joy of the young 22-year-old judoka was all the greater as he received the brightest medal of his career right from the hands of the president of COSR, Mihai Covaliu, present at the competition at the invitation of the European judo forum and the president of the Moldovan Olympic Committee. Congratulations, Ioan Dziţac! Come on, Romania!“was the message of COSR, after the awards ceremony.
For women, Laura Bogdan (48 kg), Luciana Cătană (52 kg), Vanessa Tolea (57 kg) and Orsolya Lajos (63 kg) did not pass the first rounds on Friday, according to news.ro.
Romania sent a delegation of 12 athletes to Chisinau. Daria Tudorache and Roxana Vişa (+78 kg), respectively David Gliga (90 kg), Rareş Arsenie, Alexandru Sibişan (100 kg), Bogdan Petre and Darius Dobre (+100 kg) will enter the competition.
