The singer and actress Selena Gomez was sued Thursday by investors who claim that the star of the series “Only Murders in the Building” committed fraud by failing to fulfill the commitment to develop and promote a start-up founded by the actress in the field of mental health.
The plaintiffs invested nearly $1.2 million in Wondermind Global, a company launched in 2021 that promised users it would improve their “mental state,” according to court documents filed in federal court in Delaware.
Investors were told that Gomez, one of the biggest celebrities in social media with more than 500 million followers, will be actively involved in the development of the company as director of marketing. Investors say that Gomez and other leaders in the company have not fulfilled their promises, including the creation of a mobile application, writes Agerpres.
“Gomez claimed to have signed a contract in which he made several commitments, after which he ignored them”the court documents also say.
“There is no legitimate project underway, let alone a profitable one”added the plaintiffs, who say that the company “did not fulfill even the most basic obligations, such as paying employees and suppliers on time”.
A representative for Gomez did not immediately return a request for comment.
According to court documents, the plaintiffs were unaware of the company’s problems until they were revealed by an online press release published in September 2025. The plaintiffs are seeking recovery of their investment and court costs.
