Sepsi OSK ensured its return to the podium of Romanian football after the draw against Chindia Târgoviște, score 1-1, in the last stage of the 2nd League play-off.

FC Voluntari defeated Steaua, score 4-2, and finished the season in 3rd place, going on to play the promotion play-off in the Superliga.

Sepsi and FC Voluntari finished the play-off with equal points (64). The Covăsnenians were advantaged because they finished the regular season in a higher position, 2, compared to 5. Corvinul Hunedoara, the leader of the second league and the champion of this echelon, drew with FC Bihor, score 1-1, also on Saturday, in the last stage.

Corvinul Hunedoara and Sepsi OSK are the teams that have directly promoted, while FC Voluntari will participate in the play-off with the opponent to be determined after Monday night’s games in the Superliga, according to news.ro.

Visibly moved, he hugged the players, sang and danced with them on the pitch, then went to the stands, where he rejoiced with the fans who came to the stadium.

Sepsi OSK returned to the Super League after only one year spent in the second echelon of Romanian football.

The current Superliga season is coming to an end

So far only one team is mathematically relegated, Metaloglobus. The fight to avoid the directly relegated second place, however, remains open. Unirea Slobozia and FC Hermannstadt are still in danger, both having 22 points before the last round.

The decisive stage of the play-out will be played on Monday evening, with all games to start simultaneously, from 20:30:

  • Constanța Lighthouse – Metaloglobus Bucharest;
  • FC Hermannstadt – FCSB;
  • Ploiesti Petrol – Galati Steel;
  • Unirea Slobozia – UTA Arad.
