The change from Tottenham’s technical bench risks seriously complicating Radu Drăgușin’s situation. The appointment of Roberto De Zerbi is seen by the English press as a move that does not at all benefit the Romanian defender, who is already in a delicate position at the London club.
The Italian technician, a good connoisseur of Romanian football after playing in the golden team of CFR Cluj, is known for his rigorous style, based on possession and elaborate defense construction, where the central defenders have an essential role in initiating the game. This aspect would represent the main problem for Radu Drăgușin.
The British press leaves no room for interpretation in this regard. “De Zerbi demands defenders who are extremely comfortable in possession, able to build play under constant pressure”note the English journalists, emphasizing that the profile of the Romanian does not conform to these requirements. Moreover, the analysis is taken even further, in a not encouraging tone for the Romanian international: “Drăgusin is not the right type of defender for De Zerbi’s system, and this may drastically limit his minutes.”
De Zerbi, called to save the team from relegation
In these conditions, the change of coach, which normally could have represented a chance for the players in the shadows, becomes the exact opposite for Drăgușin. The cited sources claim that the Romanian defender could be out of the rotation, given that the new technician would prefer players who are more technical and safer in construction: “It’s a choice that doesn’t help Drăgușin, maybe even the worst option for him at the moment”the English press concludes, suggesting that the Romanian’s future at Tottenham will become even more difficult.
For Tottenham Hotspur, the stake is saving from relegation. For Radu Drăgușin, however, the appointment of De Zerbi could mean the beginning of an even more difficult period, considering that until now he was the emergency solution for the London formation
