One of the most famous and moving stories of all time, which became the best animated film and staged for the first time on Broadway, premieres in Romania.
The musical Shrek, directed by Răzvan Ioan Dincă, will take place on the stage of the Palace Hall on June 8 and 9, and the role of the famous and likeable ogre will have a double cast: Horia Brenciu and Dan Helciug.
Along with them, Oana Laura Gabriela and Bianca Purcărea played the role of Fiona, Adrian Nour (Donkey), Julie Mayaya (Dragonita), Andrei Petre and Ernest Fazekaș (Lord Farquuad).
The show is produced by the Bucharest National Opera and Musicals.ro, the same team behind other successful productions such as “Phantom of the Opera”, “Mamma Mia” and “My Fair Lady”.

Shrek will be three hours long, with an intermission, based on the animated film of the same name produced by DreamWorks Animation and the book by William Steig. Shrek the Musical was originally produced on Broadway by DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Stree Productions. The minimum recommended age is eight years. The film Shrek starred the famous American actors Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and John Lithgow, the film was presented at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d'Or, making it the first film of animation, after Peter Pan from 1953, selected in the cinematographic competition. The film was released by DreamWorks Pictures in theaters in the United States on May 18, 2001 and grossed over $492 million worldwide, becoming the fourth highest-grossing film of 2001.
The film was widely praised by critics for its animation, voice acting, soundtrack, screenplay and humor. Shrek was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
