The Champions League continued last night, but without the brilliance of Tuesday night, even if they have some strong matches scheduled.

Manchester City and Inter Milan drew 0-0 on Wednesday evening at the City of Manchester Stadium, in the first stage of the new football Champions League format. The match was a replay of the 2023 final, when City won 1-0 in Istanbul thanks to Rodri’s goal. But even now it was a footballing disappointment, with Pep Guardiola’s side grinding away in goal for 90 minutes.

In the other games, Paris Saint-Germain won dramatically against the debutant Girona, 1-0, thanks to the goal scored by Nuno Mendes (90), with the help of the goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, and the show was also saved by Celtic, who made the score of the evening, 5-1 with Slovan Bratislava, in Glasgow.

Dortmund, last year’s finalist, forcing in Bruges

Borussia Dortmund prevailed by forfeit (3-0) away from FC Bruges, all goals being scored by the reserves in the last quarter of an hour. The Englishman Jamie Gittens scored a double (76, 86), the last goal being signed by the Guinean Sehrou Guirassy (90+5 – penalty), in his first success in the colors of Borussia.

A few hours before, Bologna and Shakhtar Donetsk drew 0-0, the guests missing a penalty in the 4th minute, through Gheorghi Sudakov. And Sparta Praga, the team that knocked out FCSB in the preliminary stages, did instruction with RB Salzburg, 3-0.
