Quarterfinalist at Roland Garros, last month, Sorana Cîrstea lost (4-6, 2-6) to the British-born Romanian Emma Răducanu, in the round of 16 of the WTA 500 tournament at the Queen’s Club, with total prizes of 1,915,000 dollars.
Cîrstea (36 years old, 18 WTA) will collect $28,245 and accumulate 60 WTA points. The match lasted one hour and 27 minutes.
After this success, Răducanu (23 years old, 42 WTA) leads 2-1 in direct matches. Britannica prevailed 6-3, 7-5 in 2021 at Wimbledon, in the third round, and Cîrstea won 6-0, 6-2, this year, in the final of the Transylvania Open.

In the quarter-finals, Emma Răducanu will face the winner of the match between Harriet Dart (Great Britain) and Kamila Rahimova (Uzbekistan).
Jaqueline Cristian stopped in the “eighties”
Jaqueline Cristian also lost in the round of 16. The Bucharest native was defeated 6-1, 6-3 by Katie Boulter. The confrontation lasted 67 minutes.
Boulter (29 years old, 73 WTA) is now 3-1 in direct matches with Cristian, whom she also defeated in April in the round of 16 in Rouen, 7-6 (7/5), 4-6, 6-1.

Cristian will receive 28,245 dollars and 60 WTA points.
Gabriela Ruse, defeated by Krejcikova
In the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands), with total prizes of 246,388 euros, Gabriela Ruse (28 years old, 88 WTA) lost (1-6, 2-6) to Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic).
Finalist in last year’s edition, Bucharest bowed out after 61 minutes.

Krejcikova (30, 45 WTA) leads 3-1 in head-to-head matches against the Russian, who won her most recent duel in 2024 in the second round at the US Open, 6-4, 7-5.
For her presence in the quarterfinals, the Romanian will receive 6,110 euros and 54 WTA points.
