In the structure of the 2024-2025 school year, students and teachers will have a few more legally free days, in addition to the holidays already established in the study program. Teachers are free every year on October 5, Education Day.

The new year’s calendar is organized in the same way as the previous school year, with breaks between classes and holidays. For this year, 5 learning modules and 5 school holiday periods have been set.
For the current school year, teachers will have days off during the week, days on which public holidays fall, just like the rest of the employees, according to the Labor Code. Also, teaching staff benefit from three additional legally free days, in addition to the others established by law, in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement, according to digi24.ro.
. The non-working days for teachers this school year are:
October 5 – World Education Day, in 2024 it falls on a Saturday.
April 22, 2025 – the third day of Easter, Tuesday, the spring break day;
June 5, 2025 – Teacher’s Day, Thursday;
Legal days off in education, in the 2024-2025 school year
According to the course structure approved by the Ministry of Education, this year there will be legally free days for teachers, which will also fall during the period already established for school holidays.
Free periods for teachers are as follows:
December 25, Wednesday – the first day of Christmas (the day is during the winter holidays);
December 26, Thursday – the day after Christmas (the day is during the winter holidays);
January 1, Wednesday – New Year (the day is during the winter holidays);
January 2, Thursday, New Year’s Day (the day is on winter break);
January 6, Monday – Baptism of the Lord, Epiphany (the day is during the winter holidays);
January 7, Tuesday – the Cathedral of the Holy Prophet John the Baptist (the day is during the winter holidays); January 24, Friday – Mica Unire, legal holiday;
April 18, Good Friday (the day is during spring break);
April 21, Monday – Easter Monday (the day is on spring break);
May 1, Thursday – Labor Day;
June 9, Monday – the second day of Pentecost.
What holidays do students and teachers have in the 2024-2025 school year
Autumn vacation – from Saturday, October 26 to Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Starting with the 2022-2023 school year, when semesters were abandoned and learning modules were switched to, the decision was made to generalize the fall vacation.
Thus, in the 2024-2025 school year, the first vacation in October will be both for students from the general school, grades I-VIII, and for those from high school, grades IX-VII.
Winter break, or Christmas break for students and teachers will start on Saturday, December 21, 2024 and will last until Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
The third holiday of the 2024-2025 school year is the ski holiday. The mobile vacation or ski vacation, as it was called, will last for one week between February 10 and March 2, 2025 and will be determined by the decision of the school/county/municipality inspectorates of Bucharest.
As a period of time, the ski holiday will take place between course modules III and VI, depending on each educational unit. Module III of the course will take place during the period: Wednesday, January 8, 2025, until Friday, February 7, 2025, respectively Friday, February 14, 2025 or Friday, February 21, 2025. The spring vacation in the structure of the school year 2024-2025 will start on Friday, April 18, 2025 and will run through Sunday, April 27, 2025.
After the completion of the last course module, module V, which will take place from Monday, April 28, 2025 – Friday, June 20, 2025, the long vacation follows. The 2025 summer vacation is also the last vacation period of the 2024-2025 school year, and will run from Saturday, June 21, 2025 to Sunday, September 7, 2025.
