Ilie Bolojan could be removed from the PNL forehead if Nicușor Dan loses the presidential elections. Several PNL leaders believe that the party has been away from the conservative area and thus lost electorate in favor of gold, political sources say for Truth.

Bolojan is criticized in the party for the approach of USR and Nicușor Dan. Some leaders would like the party to go into the opposition, to delimit the progressive area, and Crin Antonescu and other old liberals to return to the party leadership, the sources quoted.
The Sunday elections will not only decide the future president of the country, but also the future of interim president Ilie Bolojan in Romanian politics. If Nicușor Dan will win the poll, Ilie Bojan has a great chance of becoming prime minister. The pro-European PSD-PNL-UDMR coalition will recover, the USR will enter the government, for a larger majority in the Parliament. Even though the PSD has the most parliamentary mandates, Ilie Bolojan could be voted by social-democrats, given that the PSD was charged by the electorate and at the presidential elections in November, and at the first round of May. Thus, Ilie Bolojan would shoot two rabbits in a single blow: they would reach the government and at the same time, in front of PNL. After the elections, Ilie Bolojan will return to the position of interim president of the party, but the position of prime minister would ensure his victory at the Congress scheduled in the summer.
Instead, things get complicated for Bolojan if Nicușor Dan loses the presidential election. More PNL leaders do not want Bolojan president if the party does not remain in government. And if George Simion reaches the Cotroceni Palace, the Liberals will go into the opposition, because a gold and sauce government would bring them to the future. In this case, with the perspective of the opposition for the next four years, some of the Liberals would like the party to get rid of the PSD, and the USR and to return to the messages in the conservative area.
“We have lost consistent percentages of the electorate in favor of gold. This is because we have associated too much with USR and Nicușor Dan lately. Obviously, the governance with the PSD has not been useful. But the party must find its liberal doctrine with an emphasis on the conservative area. We must remain the family supporters and supporters”, Sources from the leadership of the Party for Truth.
Several PNL leaders in the territory insist that the former leaders of the party, including Crin Antonescu, return to the formation, either by directly assuming their management, or by a close friend, the sources quoted. Crin Antonescu, from the position of president, and Eduard Hellvig, as Secretary General, were the artisans of the first PSD-PNL alliance, along with Victor Ponta and Liviu Dragnea. The twinning with the PSD brought, in the 2012 elections, most mandates in the Parliament for the PNL and the largest number of mayors in the post-December history of the party.
In fact, Crin Antonescu has published in the last days several messages on Facebook in which he criticized both finalists, although the PNL, the party on which to drive, and the interim president Ilie Bolojan have publicly announced for Nicușor Dan. “I’m not afraid. But I am forced, deep forced, by the hypocrisy of all the dryers gathered in the “great coalition” for rescue”, Said Crin Antonescu, allusion to the mobilization of society in favor of Nicușor Dan.
Among the supporters of Crin Antonescu from PNL are Eduard Hellvig (former director of the SRI), Hubert Thuma (president of CJ Ilfov), George Tuță (mayor of Sector 1), Alina Gorghiu (former PNL leader), Mircea Roșca (PNL Prahova leader) and other branch presidents from the south of the country. On the other hand, Ilie Bolojan is supported by the strong organizations in Transylvania, but also by many PNL members who will reform the party with Ilie Bolojan and Ciprian Ciucu (mayor of Sector 6) at the management, the sources quoted shows.
